Max and I had a fun surf session today at Canoes. Cloudy skies and rain showers, coupled with a Monday, made the break manageable without the usual hordes of surfers, boats and swimmers. We headed out in the afternoon after a tasty meal at Ruffage, our usual vegetarian/vegan spot on Kuhio Ave. The tide was rising hiding the usual shallow reef spots. There were several breaks going off in every direction and pleasantly, enough waves for everyone despite several classes and beginners on foamies. I paddled straight out to the second outer break and watched and waited for a good set to roll through. I got a couple early ones that were short but fun. Realizing I was in a bit of a cross current, I moved farther to the left and waited for the next set. That ride proved to be the best and longest since I caught it at just the right moment. Stoked and ready for more tomorrow!
