Fun but slightly frustrating sesh today. Excited to try the Ripcurl SearchGPS watch for the first time after getting it yesterday, after Max got his a couple days ago. Waves were smaller today than yesterday on this fading SW swell. Got out earlier but there were still lots of classes and surfers on a Friday afternoon. Tried for a few near the usual spot but they were really lumpy today. Got a couple of short ones. Later moved to the right tower inside and got some steep ones that wedged up. Watch said the fastest was 8.4mph. Wondered what the good ones from last week would’ve been! Max was having a frustrating time, when a rude instructor sent her student on a giant board right in front of him and her board ran over his and his foot. Agggh. He felt like he needed a bigger board to get those sloshy waves today on a higher tide. Later I tried for some outside right tower waves and managed to get one but the guy next to me swung hard left cutting me off. Swept a bit inside before I got an awesome right, swooped down the wedge-y face, turned right and was zipping along the face, wondering what the speed of this wave would be. The ride ended and I glanced at the watch only to see the time and not the surf session readout. Wha?!! The GPS lost connection right before my best wave because of low battery. AGGGGGH. Anyway, can’t complain too much about anything when you’re in Waikiki. Just stoked I got some waves and wish Max had a better time.

First post with Ripcurl SearchGPS watch data, minus my last epic wave ;)
