Looked almost flat from the 32nd window when we checked but when we got to the beach after eating a quick sandwich and banana, there seemed to be waves. Sweet. We had already decided to rent big boards from the Beach Boys as Max said, “so he could catch any little bump out there.” Turned out to be awesome. I was on the 9’6 from December and while it was harder to turn to get waves, it also caught almost everything I went for. Long rides from the outside. Chill rides on the inside. Stoked. Today was the opposite of yesterday where the crowd and classes weren’t near where I wanted to get waves. Rare and super fun. The AlohaBoardship Fish Fry was still going on at Kuhio beach, keeping it festive. Tropical storm Ela brought humid temps to Waikiki and it was noticeably so this morning when we hit the street. Wore my sleeveless shorty which was sooo comfortable. After a couple of hours of stoked surfing, we headed across the street to get banana/strawberry/mango yogurt smoothies at the stand in the Hyatt. Yum.
Posting my stats from the Ripcurl SearchGPS watch, which is pretty cool so far:
